It used to be so easy, just pop to your local salon and your trusted Organic Colour Systems’ stylist would fix all of your hair woes. But in the current climate, it looks like we won’t be back in the salons for a little while yet. To help us get through it, North American Education Manager for Organic Colour Systems, Jeanine Mantisi, shares her top tips on helping hair colour last longer and stay looking fabulous at home.
To keep your colour for longer…
- Avoid washing your hair every day! The more you wash your hair, the quicker your colour will fade because of the PH levels. Also, hard water can strip colour. If your hair gets greasy quickly, then use our Revive (dry) Shampoo, which has been specially formulated to gently cleanse and enhance the volume and manageability of your hair.
- When washing your hair, use cool water instead of hot. Washing your hair with very hot water can remove essential oils and moisture.
- Make sure you continue to use your prescribed OCS shampoo, conditioner and treatment products, which help hold colour for longer.
- Avoid excessive uses of heat (blow-drying, straightening or curling). When using heat, make sure you’re using Control Thermal 2 Twenty, which protects hair up to temperatures of 220 C and improves the smoothness of hair’s surface and reduces friction.
When those roots and grey hairs start to appear…
- Keep those roots hidden by accessorising! You can use a headband, scarf or a hat to keep your regrowth hidden. No one would ever know!
- If you need a colour refresh to cover those greys, our semi-permanent hair colour, No Limits is easy to use at home. Lasting between 3 and 30 washes, there are 12 inter-mixable colours in the range.
Don’t forget that all Organic Colour Systems products can be ordered here or through your local salon.
